Course OverviewThe SIOP® Virtual Institute Course, developed in collaboration with the SIOP Authors, provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the SIOP® Model and guidance on how to implement the Model in any lesson so that all students benefit – especially English learners/multilingual learners.
Engage from you own device* with a Savvas SIOP® Certified Consultant, collaborate with educators from across the United States, and view exclusive SIOP® video footage. The 4-week course consists of both live virtual sessions and self-paced sessions. -
Training Outcomes
SIOP® Training for Teachers Virtual Institute participants will gain practical skills to collaborate, share, and implement SIOP® Model lessons. Participants will learn to incorporate all eight components of the SIOP® Model in order to teach content while developing students’ academic and social language.
By the end of the institute participants will be able to:
- Describe the SIOP® Model and its effectiveness with English learners/multilingual learners - along with all students.
- Determine learning and instructional techniques that are appropriate for multilingual learners.
- Create lesson plan utilizing the eight Components of the SIOP® Model.
- Establish techniques to increase student interaction and collaboration in the classroom.
- Identify techniques to review content and assess student understanding.
- Observe and rate SIOP® Model lessons.
