What Makes the Oceans Move?

One of the best ways to engage students is by providing rich and meaningful learning experiences. In this brief 30-minute hands-on experience I analyze a particular youtube video to investigate whether it is true or not. Then, we explore how energy and matter cycles affect the movement of ocean currents and how those currents can distribute pollution around the globe. Hopefully, this sparks some ideas you can integrate into your science classroom this year!

Michael Comer, currently the Director of Science Marketing at Savvas Learning Company, began his teaching career as a middle school science teacher in Dobbs Ferry, NY. He has presented internationally, training science teachers in STEM educational practices from the Middle East to the Far East, including a two-year Professional Development series for Master Science Teachers in Bangkok, Thailand for the Institute for the Promotion of Science and Technology.
